Step 1 · Straighten
Scanmint finds the edges and corrects the perspective, so a page shot at an angle comes out square. When it misreads a corner, drag the handle yourself.
Manual crop is free on every page — as are rotate, reorder, delete and add page.
Step 2 · Recognise
On-device OCR makes the text on the page searchable and copyable. Pick Export searchable PDF to bake that text layer into the file, copy a paragraph straight out of a receipt, or export the recognised text as a .txt.
Recognition runs on the phone — the page is never sent anywhere to be read.
Step 3 · Export
Choose Export PDF or Export searchable PDF, then send the file wherever you need it through the usual share sheet. Both are free, with no watermark and no page limit put there by the app.
JPG export is free too, and recognised text can go out as a .txt. In that menu only password-protecting the file is a Pro extra.
Your documents
Receipts, contracts, IDs, homework, whiteboards, handwritten notes — each one keeps its name, page count and date. Search matches the title, and because OCR ran on the page, it matches what's written inside too.
When OCR finds text, Scanmint names the document after the first recognised line, so a scan is filed under something readable instead of a timestamp — rename it whenever you like.
The list lives on the phone, so it opens with no signal and no sign-in. Nothing expires and nothing gets locked behind a renewal.
Export to Files, iCloud Drive or any app whenever you want a copy somewhere else.
Privacy
Scanning, cropping and text recognition all run on the phone. Scanmint never uploads your scan content to our servers and we cannot read it — contracts, payslips and ID cards included. Your documents are stored on the device until you choose to export them.
There's no Scanmint account and no document sync, so nothing is uploaded on its own. When you want a document elsewhere, you export or share it yourself.
What the app does send: anonymised usage and crash diagnostics, device and OS information, purchase and entitlement data through the App Store, Google Play and RevenueCat, and any message you choose to write to support. There are no ads, and we do not sell your personal data.
Free vs Pro
Scan, crop, edit, recognise text and export — all free. Pro adds signatures, ID card capture, export of everything at once, advanced OCR and password-protected PDFs.
Scanmint Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime Unlock. The price is shown in the app before you buy; subscriptions renew until you cancel, which you do in the App Store or Google Play.
No. Exporting and sharing PDFs is free, with no page limit and no watermark on the file. Pro adds extras like signatures and password protection, but it never stands between you and your own scan.
No — your scan content is never uploaded to our servers. Scanning and text recognition run on the device, and you decide when to export or share a file. The app does send the limited diagnostics listed in the privacy policy.
On iPhone and iPad, yes — scanning, cropping, OCR and export all work offline. On Android the scanner and OCR components are delivered by Google Play services, so the first use may need a connection; after that it works offline too. Buying or restoring Pro always needs one.
Yes. On-device OCR produces a searchable PDF, lets you copy the recognised text, and can export it as a .txt file. Pro unlocks extra recognition languages — German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese on iPhone and iPad; Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari on Android.
